Male breast reduction, or Gynecomastia, is an aesthetic surgical procedure done for reducing the size of male breasts. Excessive male breasts growth may cause extreme embarrassment, social trauma, and teasing.

Research states that around 60% of men suffer from abnormally outsized glandular tissue or abnormal sized breasts making them feel embarrassed. Therefore, men can opt for Male Breast Reduction surgery, as it removes the extra tissues thereby giving the breasts a flatter and firmer appearance.

Many men hide this condition with thick t-shirts or shirts, avoid going bare chest, and stay away from public exposing. This condition is also called as moobs, puffed nips, man boobs, and puffy nipples.

Studies have stated that in men, large breasts may be due to obesity, as men can also have hormonal imbalance. Studies also state that this condition may be due to excessive levels of female hormone called oestrogen present in the male body.

To reduce the size and volume of a male breast, a male breast reduction surgery has to be carried out for removing fatty tissues lying under the breast. A small size incision is done near the nipple. A tiny metal tube then is introduced through that incision. This sucks fatty tissues from the male breast. In certain cases, surgeons even need to remove the glandular tissues from the male breast for achieving best results.

Normally male breast reduction surgery is done within 1 to 3 hours, but the time may vary depending upon the volume and condition of breasts the patient is having.
